Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Is the Elm Thicket/Northpark Neighborhood Association a 501(c)3 non-profit organization?
Answer: Yes. The neighborhood association has recently recently been approved as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Question: How can I become involved in the Elm Thicket/Northpark Neighborhood Association?
Answer: Great question! There are currently nine different committees that you can join. They range from Block Captain Committee to Crime Watch Information to Neighborhood Beautification and Stabilization. The committees have not met much yet so we are looking for energetic members to join and help make our neighborhood association active.
Question: Why is there a five-year residency requirement prior to running for an officer position with
the neighborhood association?
Answer: When the Elm Thicket/Northpark Neighborhood Association was created, the City of Dallas Urban Design and Planning Department provided a template for the bylaws to ensure stability for our neighborhood group. The bylaws template is used by a number of other neighborhood associations in Dallas. The five-year period also allows new residents to get acquainted with the neighborhood, their neighbors and the neighborhood association.
